Dennie Work has been working with clients since 1972. She was the Director of the Counseling Department at Burlington College, in Burlington, Vermont. She has worked for the Department of Corrections, substance abuse agencies, and held a private practice in Tucson, Arizona and Burlington, Vermont. She also worked at the Veteran's Administration Hospital in White River Junction, Vermont, and served as clinical liaison between the Alcohol Rehabilitation Unit and the Psychiatry Unit, with an emphasis on Post Traumatic Stress Disorder.

While in Arizona, she attended workshops with Dr. Andrew Weil on Integrative Breath Therapy which she has found very helpful with clients’ stress reduction. She also facilitates Dream Therapy groups, using a non-traditional approach.

Dennie believes that her clients basically know and understand themselves, no matter what their life problems are, and respond to an approach that includes kindness, deep listening, humor, and encouragement toward commitment and action. She defines her basic approach as "mindfulness therapy".

Dennie holds appointments at Maple Street Counseling, 231 Maple Street, Burlington, Vermont, as well as her home office. Most insurances are accepted.
